Nathan Woodman1

     Nathan Woodman was the son of Nathan Woodman and Olive Gray.1 Nathan Woodman died in 1807 in Saco.1

Was in the Revolutionary Army. Was for some time a sailor, and was for some years insane. Died in 1807. Being in Saco, he went on board a vessel to sleep which had been fumigated with sulphur, to destroy rats, and died from breathing the poisonous atmosphere. His body was brought to his brother's house at Pleasant Point, and he was buried in the grave-yard there. He was never married.1

Under date of March 25, 1872, William M. McArthur, Esq., of Limington, says that he is informed by James Black, of E. Limington, that "she died on Fast Day in April, 1840, at her husband's house in Limington, aged about 86 or 87 years. Her marriage with Josiah Black was about thirty years before her death, and was probably solemnized in Standish, just over the river, where Joseph Chase, her first husband, lived." ..... "There are no children living. She is buried on the farm of Josiah Black, in Limington, but there are no grave-stones by which her age can be learned.3

John Harrison Woods1

     John Harrison Woods was born on 23 August 1840 in Farmington, Franklin County, Maine.1,2 He was the son of John Adams Woods and Maria Sewall.1,3 John Harrison Woods married Henrietta Octavia Whittier, daughter of Isaac Flint Whittier and Mary Jewett, on 25 July 1865 in West Roxbury, Massachusetts.4 John Harrison Woods died on 20 August 1907 at 80 Blue Hill Avenue, Roxbury, Massachusetts, at the age of 66 of a cerebral haemorrhage.5

John Woods was educated in the public schools of his native town, and prepared for college at the Farmington Academy. After graduating with honours from Bowdoin he taught Latin for over two years at Cooperstown Seminary, New York and was for one year principle of the high school at Concord, New Hampshire. He then gave himself to music as his profession and the remainder of his life was spent in Boston, as a composer, publisher and teacher of music. He also engaged to some extent in literary work. A poem of considerable length descriptive of college days, written by him, was printed in 1889.6
