William S. Turner, 93, who directed the engineering and construction of the Oregon Electric railroad system, died Wednesday in a Portland hospital. His home was at 3252 N.E. Irving street. The retired engineer had been a resident of Portland 44 years. Besides being active on many Northwest construction project, he was associated with his son in the Edmond S. Turner company, a manufacturers' representatives firm which he established in 1921.
Mr. Turner was born August 15, 1858, in Quincy, Ill. He was educated at Knox college, Galesburg, Ill., and received a degree in electrical engineering from Cornell university.
In 1892 he was married to Helen Sewall at Hamilton, O.
During his career he directed installation of street railway systems in many parts of the eastern United States. In 1901 he went to New Zealand to work on putting in tram systems there.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Helen S. Turner; his son, Edmond S. Turner, both of Portland, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Marilyn Turner Link, Sacramento, Cal. Private funeral service will be at 2:30 p. m. Friday in the Colonial mortuary with Dr. Leonard O'Diorne officiating. Private burial in Riverview cemetery will follow.5

The service was choral, Hymn 360 being sung as the bride came up the aisle, and Hymn 379 at the conclusion of the service. The bride was given away by her uncle, Mr. E. M. Primrose, and was attended by six bridesmaids — Miss M. and Miss A. Halliday, Miss Claudine Primrose, Miss Mary Harris, Miss Tyndale-Biscoe, and Miss M. Mackenzie. The bride wore an ivory Duchesse satin dress, trimmed with Brussels lace, tulle veil, and wreath of orange blossoms. The dresses of the bridesmaids were pale blue embroidered muslin, trimmed with cream lace; straw hats with lace and blue feathers. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. A. S. Tyndale-Biscoe, R.A., as best man. After the register was signed the guests returned to Sorel, the residence of Mrs. G. C. Harris, the bride’s aunt, for the wedding breakfast. Mr. and Mrs. Stafford Biscoe left Torquay at three o’clock for Salisbury, en route for Westfield, Hayling Island, lent to them by Mrs. Sandeman, the bridegroom’s grandmother. The bride’s travelling dress was dark grey cashmere and velvet costume, trimmed with brown maratout, and grey bonnet with a red feather. Amongst the wedding presents, which were very numerous and handsome, were particularly noticeable a handsome walnut wood library writing-table, presented by the tenant farmers of the Holton Estate and T. E. Withington, Esq., of Holton Cottage; a handsome revolving breakfast dish, by the cottage tenants; a pair of silver-gilt sugar tongs and tea scoop and bedroom candlestick, by the servants at Holton Park; a family Bible, by the mistress and children of Holton School; and a silver tea service and candlesticks, by the tenants of the Bixley Hall Estate and — Hansell, Esq.1,2
