He was a English Merchant. Francis Howe married Anne Careaud, daughter of Como Careaud and Jean Marie Sabalos. On 4 December 1795 a Francis Howe filed an application for American citizenship with the United States District Court showing that he arrived in the United States in June 1793 at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.1 He died say 1797.

Priestland Place is a small terrace of nineteenth century red brick houses.2 She died on 18 January 1862 in Lymington, Hampshire, at the age of 67 the notice of death in The Times gives her age as 69.4

He attended the Kinkaid School in Houston and graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire. While at Exeter, he was a valued and enthusiastic member of the wrestling team. At Stanford University, Edward was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity, and he received his engineering degree in 1959.
He graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1962. He was an associate editor of the Law Review, a member of the Order of the Coif, a Quiz Master and a member of the law fraternity Phi Delta Phi.
Edward began his law career with Baker Botts in Houston and later was in-house council for several companies including Mandrill, Horton and Horton, and PGI. Later he opened an independent law office in Bellaire, Texas.
Edward is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years Beth Soule' Howell. He is also survived by his sons Gilbert Sewall Howell and his wife Robin and John Cleveland Howell and his wife Sarah, both of whom are children of a previous marriage to Louise Moraghan Howell. Edward has three grandsons, Charles Sewall Howell, Benjamin Parker Howell and Thomas Campbell Howell. He is also survived by his sister Sallie Anne Howell Bryan. He has two stepsons William Christopher Soule', M.D., and Jeffrey Scott Soule'.
Edward especially enjoyed bird hunting with his dogs at the Garwood Hunting Club, being a ticket holder of the Oilers/Texans football teams for over fifty years, golfing, fishing and playing cards with his friends and being a member of the Tejas Club. Edward was an excellent chef. Many friends who tasted his food thought that he should open his own restaurant. Edward and Beth enjoyed traveling, especially to New Orleans, and many cruises to various parts of the world.
