In 1840 his sister Lucinde wrote "My brother has been engaged from his youth in a seafaring life, and though he has spared no pains or exertions, misfortunes have closely attended him. During the latter part of 1825 he suffered shipwreck, for the third time, on the coast of Cuba. He thus lost all the hard earnings of eight years, and must begin the world anew with only hope for his support and a firm reliance on that Providence which has preserved his life in many dangers though not blessed his labours with success. He is now daily expected on his return to Europe."1 Theodore François Touzi died in 1841 in Mauritius (SS President.)
