     Elbridge Cushman Sewall was born on 5 June 1852 in Maine.1,2 He was the son of Benjamin Crosby Sewall and Susan Proctor Carpenter.1 Elbridge Cushman Sewall married Jessie Benton Mead, daughter of Joseph Mead and Mary Denike, on 19 January 1887 in Manhattan, New York. The New York Daily Tribune of 16th January 1887 reports the wedding as having taken place at the home of the bride's parents, 21 West 126 Street S.3 In 1910 he was a cashier in a firm of brokers [Jared Flagg - which subsequently led to a trial for using the mails to defraud, Elbridge Sewall was not guilty] at New York.4 Elbridge Cushman Sewall died on 12 April 1926 in Montclair, New Jersey, at the age of 73.5

     Eleanor Sewall was born on 19 July 1898 in St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota.2 She was the daughter of Samuel Lovatt Sewall and Jessie Douglas Newson.1 Eleanor Sewall graduated in 1919 from Vassar.3 She married William Lloyd Prosser in 1925.1 Eleanor Sewall and William Lloyd Prosser appear on the census of 1932 he is an attorney in a law firm.4 Eleanor Sewall died on 26 March 1985 in Alameda, California, at the age of 86.5

Before her marriage Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Scovil was Miss Elinor Sewall, niece and adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Callan, of Lawrence Park, Bronxville. Her husband is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Lorne Scovil, of Morristown, N. J.
The ceremony was performed at 3:30 o'clock at the Callan home, by the Rev. Quitman Beckley, Catholic chaplain of Princeton University. A small reception followed.
Mr. Callan gave the bride in marriage. Her cousin, Miss Agnes Sewall, of Mountain Lakes, N. J., was maid of honor. Attendants were Mrs. Sidney Leeds Wells, Mrs. Charles Jackson Smith, the Misses Harriet Barton Scovil, sister of the bridegroom, Patricia Hollister, Constance Abbe, Elizabeth Baker, Lucille Greene and Sarah Putnam.
William E. Seeley, of Morristown, was best man. Ushers included Charles J. Sewall, cousin of the bride, Harry Powers Dunne, Robert Post Sturgls, Howard T. Feeley, Crawford Morris, Robert G. Kemp, John Edward Stark and William Gard McCulloch.
The bride, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Foster Sewall, was graduated from the Westover School and from Sarah Lawrence College, '39. She is a member of the New York Junior League, the Bronxville Field Club and the Bronxvllle League for Service. She is a granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sewall and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Redford J. Mount of New York.
Mr. Scovil was graduated from Princeton, '37, and is a member of the Princeton Club of New York. He is a grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. John M. Barton and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thomas Scovil, and a grandnephew of Samuel Scovil of Cleveland. The Daily Argus, 25 February 1941.4


Elinor Sewall died on 19 April 1997 in Lee, Florida, at the age of 80.2

Franklin Davis on 10 December 1849 in Chesterville, Franklin County, Maine.3,4 Eliza Jane Sewall and Rev. Franklin Davis appear on the census of 1850 at Orrington, Penobscot, Maine, where his occupation is listed as currier but by the 1860 Census he had become a Baptist clergyman and the family then lived in Wrentham, Massachusetts.5,6 Eliza Jane Sewall died on 7 August 1861 in North Chesterville, Farmington, Franklin County, Maine, at the age of 45.3

YORK — Funeral services for Miss Eliza Jane (Jennie) Sewall, 84, of the Rockingham Hotel, Portsmouth, formerly of York, were held today al the Roger K. Lucas Funeral Home. The Rev. Raymond Wilbur of the First Parish Congregational Church, officiated. Burial was in the First Parish cemetery, with committal by the Rev. Mr. Wilbur.
Miss Sewall died Saturday in a Portsmouth nursing home after a long illness. She was born in York June 7. 1885, daughter of Frank E. and Marietta (Muchmore) Sewall.
She had been employed as a bookkeeper at the Rockingham Hotel for 45 years, retiring seven years ago. She attended the First Parish Congregational Church of York and was a member of the Fadetto Chapter, OES, of York. Surviving are a brother, Dwight S. Sewall of Augusta, a sister, Mrs. Norman Emery of York Beach; nieces and nephews. The Portsmouth Herald, 24 November 1969.2

     Elizabeth Sewall was born on 29 December 1681.1 She was the daughter of Chief Justice Samuel E. Sewall and Hannah Hull. Elizabeth Sewall was baptised on 1 January 1681/82.1 She married Grove Hirst, son of William Hirst and Mary Grove, on 17 October 1700 in Boston the service being conducted by the Rev. Cotton Mather.2,3 Elizabeth Sewall died on 10 July 1716 at the age of 34 about midnight 10-11 July.2
