Anne Sewall married Anthony Power on 5 May 1612 in Allesley, Warwickshire.1 Anne Sewall died shortly before on 23 January 1632/33 being the date of her burial in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.2 She made a will on 15 January 1632/33 In which she mentions "William Power my third son. Anthony Power my fourth son. My two daughters Hannah and Mary Power. My brother-in-law William Power. My two brothers in law Thomas Power and George Hill. Mr Henry Wright, Richard Walton and Elizabeth Ambler. The report of the Augmentation. Henry West my brother-in-law. Mr Francis Phippes, Mr Richard Shewell, Mr Abraham Randall and William Power my brothers and a dear friends".
Administration granted, 1 May 1633, to a Richard Sewell uncle of Stephen Power the natural and lawful son of the deceased during his minority. The will was proved 5 February 1638 by Stephen Power the son &c. Waters: Genealogical Gleanings.3

Hon. Arthur Sewall1

M, b. 25 November 1835, d. 5 September 1900
     Hon. Arthur Sewall. William J. Bryan's running mate for the Presidency in 1896.2 He was born on 25 November 1835 in Bath, Sagadahoc County, Maine, The news item of his death in the New York Times gives his birth as 8 November 1835.3,4 He was the son of William Dunning Sewall and Rachel Allen Trufant.1 Hon. Arthur Sewall married Emma Duncan Crooker, daughter of Charles Crooker and Rachel Sewall, on 29 March 1859 in Bath, Sagadahoc, Maine.5 His father had established a shipbuilding firm in 1823, and after receiving a common school education, the son at an early age entered its employ, and in 1854 succeeded with his elder brother to the business, building and managing a fleet of constantly increasing numbers and proportions. Upon his brother's death the firm style became Arthur Sewall & Co. After launching the Roanoke, the last built and largest wooden ship in the world, Mr. Sewall turned his attention to steel, and in 1894 launched the Dirigo, the first steel sailing ship built in America. He was a firm believer in the future of the American merchant marine and of its importance to the nation, and constantly proved his faith by adding to his fleet. He did not confine his activities to the sea, but was largely interested in land transportation. He was director and for nine years president of the Maine Central railway, president of the Eastern railway before its merger in the Boston & Maine, director of the Boston & Maine, New York & New England, and Mexican Central railroads. He was president of the Bath National bank and identified with many industrial corporations. Mr. Sewall was always a Democrat, was a delegate to the national conventions, 1872, 1876, 1880 and 1884, member of the Democratic national committee, 1888-96, candidate of his party for U.S. senator; 1893, and in this year declared in favor of the free coinage of silver, and at the Chicago convention of 1896 accepted the Democratic nomination for Vice President of the United States.3 Hon. Arthur Sewall died on 5 September 1900 in Small Point, Nr. Bath, Maine, at the age of 64 at 8.30 in the morning as a result of a stroke which occured three days earlier. He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Bath, Maine, by religion a Swedenborgian.

     Dr. Arthur Ditmare Sewall was born on 12 November 1914 in Bridgeton, New Jersey.1 He was the son of Dr. Millard Freeman Sewall and Helen Sidney Ditmars.2 Dr. Arthur Ditmare Sewall died on 23 July 1997 at his home, Bridgeton, New Jersey, at the age of 82.3
Dr. Sewall worked as a general practitioner before retiring from private practice in 1983. He served as the Bridgeton High School doctor for more than 20 years and also worked for several years as the doctor at the Cumberland County Jail.
He was a 1932 graduate of Bridgeton High School and later graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and the Thomas Jefferson University Medical School. He served in the Army Medical Corps, working as a doctor in the South Pacific during World War II. He later served in the Army Reserve, reaching the rank of major.3

     Arthur Russell Sewall was born on 30 January 1891 in Joplin, Missouri.2 He was the son of Arthur Wollaston Sewall and Emily F. Arthur Shaw Sewall1

M, b. 3 June 1846, d. 8 January 1922
     Arthur Shaw Sewall was born on 3 June 1846 in Farmington, Maine.2 He was the son of Joseph Sewall and Catherine Jones Shaw.1 Arthur Shaw Sewall married Mary E. Carey, daughter of Cornelius Carey and Ellen Kennedy, on 1 January 1883.3 Arthur Shaw Sewall died on 8 January 1922 in Dysart, Iowa, at the age of 75.3 In 1867 Arthur Sewall decided to move west and settled in Tama County, Iowa where he lived for the rest of his life. For some years Sewall taught in the rural schools of Tama County, after a few years of teaching, he changed his vocation and purchased a drugstore in Dysart. Later he sold the drugstore and purchased a lumberyard in the town. He served as Dysart's postmaster, as a member of the school board, and as mayor of Dysart for several years.2

Arthur Wollaston Sewall1

M, b. 19 November 1860, d. 1 August 1939
     Arthur Wollaston Sewall. Philadelphia banker and manufacturer.2 He was born on 19 November 1860 in Mobile, Alabama.1,3 He was the son of Kiah Bayley Sewall and Lucretia Day.4 Arthur Wollaston Sewall married firstly Emily F. Izatt on 25 December 1889 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.5 Arthur Wollaston Sewall married secondly Cynthia Pope Yeatman, daughter of Thomas Yeatman and Lucretia Pope, on 29 December 1897 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Arthur Wollaston Sewall died on 1 August 1939 in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, at the age of 782 and is buried in Cutters cemetery, Jaffrey Center.6

Manufacturer and Banker Succumbs 7 Weeks After Wife
Arthur Wollaston Sewall. Philadelphia banker and manufacturer, died yesterday in his summer home at Jeffrey, N.H. Just seven weeks after the death of his wife. He was 78.
Ill health forced Mr. Sewall to resign as president of the General Asphalt Corp. now the Barber Asphalt Corp. on May 12, 1936 after serving the company 39 years. He was president of the concern for 24 years. The directors promptly elected him chairman of the board, but he resigned on Sept. 30, 1936, remaining a director, however, until his death.
He was a director of the Federal Reserve Bank. Third District; Baldwin Locomotive Works; Insurance Company of North America; Mutual Assurance Co; American Pulley Co; Midvale Steel Co; Bell Telephone Co. of Pennsylvania, and the Zoological! Society, and was a council member of the Pan-American Society, Inc. His clubs were the Philadelphia and Mid-Day.
Mr. Sewall was born in Mobile. Ala. Nov. 19, 1860, the son of Kiah Bayley and Lucretia Day Sewall. After a high school education, he engaged in mining in Colorado and Missouri before coming to Philadelphia in 1898.
In 1897 he married Cynthia Pope Yeatman, of St. Louis, who died June 12 at the summer home. Their Philadelphia residence was at 1311 Spruce st.
He is survived by a brother-in-law, Pope Yeatman, of Jaffrey, and a niece, Georgina Pope Yeatman, city architect.7
