     Governor William Livingston was born on 6 November 1723.3 He was the son of Philip Livingston, "Second Lord of the Manor" and Catharine Van Brugh. Member of the Provincial Assembly, 1759-1761; Governor of New Jersey, 1776-1790.3 Governor William Livingston graduated in 1741 from Yale.3 He married Susannah French, daughter of Philip French, in 1745.1 Governor William Livingston died on 25 July 1790 at the age of 66.

Rev. William Livingston1

M, b. 1576, d. before October 1641
     Rev. William Livingston was born in 1576 in Kilsyth Castle, Monyabrock.1,2 He was the son of Master Alexander Livingston and Barbara Livingston.2,3 He graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1595. He was ordained July 13, 1596, and had temporary charge of his father's parish of Monyabroch after the deposition, and he was subsequently given the ministry permanently. Six years later he was also deposed, having opposed the restoration of Episcopacy and not submitting to canons and ceremonies, yet King James himself presented him with the living of Lanark soon afterward, but he was again deposed for denouncing the legality of the General Assembly that passed the Five Articles of Perth, and he was thrown in prison. After his release, however, he boldly continued his antagonism. He was a leader in the struggle between the bishops and the Presbyterian clergy.2 Rev. William Livingston married firstly Agnes Livingston, daughter of Alexander Livingston of Halls of Airth and Falkirk and Marian Bryson, on 6 January 1601 at Falkirk.4,5 Rev. William Livingston married secondly Nicola Somervell.2 Rev. William Livingston married thirdly Marion Weir.2 Rev. William Livingston died before October 1641 in Lanark.2,5

     Sir William de Livingston, was the son of Sir William de Livingston, Lord of Gorgyn, Craigmillar and Drumry and Margaret Comyn ?1 Sir William de Livingston, married Christian de Callendar, daughter of Sir Patrick de Callendar, in 1345.2 Sir William de Livingston, died before 30 November 1364 leaving four sons.1 Sheriff of Haddington, 1339; Sheriff of Lanark, 1358; fought at Neville's Cross, 1346.2

     Col. William Smith Livingston was born on 27 August 1755.2 He was the son of Robert James Livingston and Susanna Smith.1 Col. William Smith Livingston married Catherine Lott, daughter of Abraham Lott, in 1774. They had a large family but only a son Francis and two daughters, married and left issue.2 He was a brave and gallant officer in the Revolution, and from his reckless daring gained the title of "Fighting Bill," was conspicuous in the battle of Long Island, taken prisoner, and confined in the Sugar House, but was soon exchanged.2 Col. William Smith Livingston died on 25 June 1794 at the age of 38.2
